Discontinuation of OTP (One-Time Password) Authorization
SMS One-Time Passwords (OTPs) for online transactions will be discontinued on 10 June 2026. To complete online purchases securely and without interruption, you are required to register on SIB Digital App, where payment approvals will be completed through secure in-app authentication methods.
Going forward, online transaction approvals will be completed through:
- Secure Push Notifications via SIB Digital App
- Secure Email Authentication within the App
To ensure uninterrupted access to your online transactions, please complete the following steps as soon as possible:
- Download SIB Digital App: www.sib.ae/mb
- Register and activate your Digital Banking access
- Ensure your mobile number is updated
- Enable Push Notifications on your device

Revision of Smiles and Cashback Covered Card Rewards Earning program
Important Update
Smiles and Cashback Covered Card benefits and rewards program will be revised effective 5th July 2026.
What’s changing?
- Revision of Specific Merchant Categories: We have further refined classification of specific merchants to ensure more accurate reward allocation in line with merchant categories as defined by Visa/ MasterCard.
- Introduction of European Economic Area (EEA) Reward Earning: Eligible transactions will now earn the new rewards structure defined under the newly introduced (European Economic Area ), enabling a more transparent and consistent earning structure

Biometric Authorization (Face/Finger print) is now required to complete your transactions through the SIB Online & Mobile Banking.
How to activate Biometrics?
Already registered in Online & Mobile Banking Services?
- Open SIB Digital App on your mobile device
- Go to Menu > Profile & Settings
- Select Enable/disable biometric login
- Enable and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup using your device’s biometric features
- Ensure your device’s Face ID or Fingerprint is already registered in your phone settings
- Log out then log in again to complete the transactions
Not Registered Yet? Here’s How to Enroll:
- Download the SIB Digital App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Click on Register on the login screen
- Enter your Card/Account Number and PIN/TPIN
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set your username, password, and activate your account
- Once registered, enable Biometric from Menu > Profile & Settings
- Select Enable/disable biometric login
- Enable and follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup using your device’s biometric features
- Ensure your device’s Face ID or Fingerprint is already registered in your phone settings
- Log out then log in again to complete the transactions
Notes:
- Biometric login can be used both for signing in and authorizing transactions, making your banking more secure and effortless
- IOS Biometric includes Fingerprint/Face ID
- Android Biometric includes fingerprint only
Important Update on Visa Credit Cards
Effective: 31st December 2024
SIB Credit Cards (Visa) will be discontinued and closed on 31 Dec 2024. We encourage you to settle any outstanding balance on this card before this date.
Existing SIB Visa Credit Cardholders are offered the option to avail our all new Smiles Platinum Visa Covered Card that hosts a wide range of benefits.

Fixed Deposit Early Withdrawal Revised Charges
As part of our ongoing effort to enhance our services, the Fixed Deposit Early Withdrawal charges will be revised and will be effective from 18 December 2024.
Early Withdrawal Charges
- Less than 30 days from booking date: 0% of the declared profit (no profit payout)
- More than 30 days from booking date: 25% of accrued profit to be paid

Fees & Eligibility Update
To enhance our banking services and to ensure complete transparency, we have revised the Safe Deposit Locker eligibility criteria, effective 1 April 2024, the following criteria will apply on Safe Deposit Locker applications:
1- Customer minimum salary AED 40,000
2- Or minimum average balance for 6 months AED 300,000
3- Security Deposit AED 3,000
4- Minors and Non UAE residents are not eligible
